Class Descriptions

Pilates
A 1hr group session giving an overall workout based around the original Pilates Mat Work repertoire. A basic knowledge of Pilates is preferred. The original Mat Work repertoire was developed by Joseph Pilates to build strength of muscles without bulk and to give flexibility and mobility to the body. In this session we break down these exercises to suit all levels of participants to give maximum results towards a fit lean body.

One – One
A 1 hr 15min one – one session that is tailored to your specific needs. The session can incorporate a mixture of Pilates exercises, Yoga poses or breathing techniques, Meditation or Relaxation techniques. This is your time and is designed around you. Investment £45.00.

Yoga
We are not offering yoga classes at this moment in time.

Masterclass Workshops

A series of Masterclass Workshops are held at The Hen House Studio, Kingsbridge on Tuesdays.

Ultimate Stretch & Release

This session will include release work, gentle & dynamic stretching and relaxation. Allow your body to relax by letting go of tension with these powerful techniques.

Care for your Back

In this session we will look at the different types of posture. Karen will then help you to analyse your own posture to give you a better understanding of how it may be improved to support your back. After some release work on the hips and pelvis, we will work through a series of simple exercises, which support the back and some gentle stretches to elongate the back and give it greater flexibility. To quote the great Joseph Pilates, “You are as old as your spine”.

There will be an element of working with a partner.

Release, Relax & Rejuvenate

Karen will take you through a series of gentle release work. Including some stretching, breathing and work on the myofascial release ball. The session will end with a guided meditation aimed at complete relaxation.

Myofascial Release Part 1 & 2

Fascia has been described as spiderweb like fibres that surround every muscle, tendon, ligament and cell in our bodies. Some call it Connective Tissue, but it is more than that. Through the activities of our daily lives this fascia can be put under strain or tension particularly if we experience any emotional or physical trauma. The fascia may then tighten or harden around the area of

trauma and if it is never released will continue to tighten around the tissue until a painful condition is felt. Fascia responds quickly and easily to gentle pressure and breathing techniques. Using a specifically designed ball to create gentle pressure we will release the fascia through a technique called Myofascial Release.

Part 1 will concentrate on releasing the fascia around the pelvis, backs of the legs, bottom, back, shoulders and neck.

Part 2 will concentrate on releasing the fascia around the arms, lower legs and front of the body.

Both classes will involve an element of balance and supporting yourself with your own body strength, but nothing more strenuous than a Pilates class. Part 2 will require participants to work in pairs.

Piloga

A combination of Pilates and Yoga designed to help you Stretch, Breath and Relax, whilst improving your Core Strength, Flexibility and Balance.

Breath, Stretch & Relax

Come and unwind, stretch, work your core muscles and relax. The workshop will include a combination of Release Work, Breathing Techniques, Facial Yoga, Yoga Stretching, Pilates and Relaxation/Meditation.

  • All payments are non refundable
  • The full course will be paid for in advance and will be non refundable if classes are missed (no exceptions).
  • On occasion swapping to another class will be possible if you can not make your normal class, as long as it is within the same term and there is space in the class you wish to swap to.
  • Numbers are limited per class, so booking is essential and on a first come first served basis.
  • Drop in sessions are offered if there is space in the class at £10 per session.
